Product Overview

To strengthen corrugated pipe for use in high impact applications, Volcano have developed a milestone double wall corrugator of marvellously crafted article of plastic technology. For similar material of inner & outer tube, single extruder is used with special die head, while for non-similar material of inner & outer tube, dual extruders with specific cross die head is used. Here inner tube protects & conveys material of inner at minimum loss of friction & pressure, while outer corrugation adds protective mechanical properties. Depending on material, welding junction zone of adjacent pipe surface gives additional strength like as of spiral-breaded design.

Double wall corrugated pipe machines consist of Extruder, Die Head, Corrugator, Tooling Tank, Puller, Cutter, Tilting Unit.

Advantage of Double Wall Corrugated Pipe is cost effective as its outer wall is corrugated make that light in weight with excellent high performance engineering mechanical properties, impact resistance, crush resistance, compression strength with high ring stiffness. Additional inner wall provide smooth surface which provide high flow efficiency due to less friction. It has got good corrosion resistance as well as easy inserting application e.g. cable.

Due to excellent junctioning methods it has become leakage proof. It is easy to cut, handle & install for drain system.

It can be made from a wide range of blow-moldable or vacuum-formable thermoplastic materials including PE, HDPE etc.

Can I use recycled material on an extrusion line for DWC pipe?

Yes. With two extruders, virgin material can go to the inner wall, where smoothness and flow matter, and recycled granules to the outer wall. This lowers raw-material cost. Check the recycled-content limits in the standard or tender you are supplying.

How is weight per metre controlled on a double wall corrugated pipe making machine?

Weight comes from balancing extruder output against line speed. More output at the same speed gives a heavier, stiffer pipe. Higher speed at the same output gives a lighter one. Once set, the synchronised panel holds that ratio steady for the whole run.

What are the moulds and die pins made of in double wall corrugated plastic pipe making machines?

Cavity blocks are precision-machined from special-grade steel and then plated. Die pins are hardened steel with hard-chrome plating and a fine internal finish. These materials resist wear in continuous running, so pipe dimensions stay stable over long production runs.

Can you supply a PVC double wall corrugator machine?

Our standard DWC lines are designed around PE and HDPE. PVC is heat-sensitive, so it needs a stabilised compound and a screw, die head and temperature profile designed for it. Send your compound details and pipe sizes and we will confirm the right configuration.

When does a double wall corrugated LDPE pipe extrusion line make sense?

LDPE gives a softer, more flexible DWC pipe that bends around obstacles. It suits light-duty conduit and farm drainage where high ring stiffness is not required. For load-bearing underground pipe, HDPE or PP is still the better choice.

No. DWC pipe is for non-pressure, gravity-flow uses: drainage, sewerage, culverts and cable protection. Pressurised water supply needs solid-wall pipe, which we offer from 16 to 100 mm (see our Plastic Extrusion Machine page).

Can size and brand marking be added to a DWC extrusion machine line?

Yes. Pipe for tenders usually needs continuous marking of size, class, standard and batch. A marking unit is fitted between the puller and cutter and linked to line speed. Mention it in your enquiry so it is planned into the layout.
